1. How is HS different to other barrier creams?
Other barrier creams tend to block the pores and wash off after every
wash or simply lose their protective characteristic if the person
naturally perspires. HandShield provides a natural barrier and
continues to moisturise and protect for up to five hours even after
continuous washing with soap and water. So, it's a product that
provides real value.
2. What does HandShield do to the hands?
Absolutely nothing! It is entirely harmless to the skin and allows the
skin to perspire naturally. It doesn't clog the pores, impair mobility,
or sense of touch. It is not greasy. HandShield is even safe and gentle
enough to protect a baby's skin from nappy rash.
3. What's in HandShield? What are its ingredients?

14. Is there a scientific explanation for how HandShield works?
In nature silicone exists as silicone dioxide (sand). Liquid silicone
(dimethicone) is the mono-oxide of silicone. Silicone oxide, when
exposed to heat (body temperature) and oxygen, recombines to the
dioxide form. Incorporating antioxidants into our moisturising formula,
along with Aloe Vera, Jojoba and other cosmetic oils interrupts this
process, for at least 4 hours. Even repeated washing, will not remove
the silicone barrier protection; however, substances containing oxygen
(as Peroxide, Nitric Acid, Sulfuric Acid etc.), will donate additional
oxygen and convert the silicone to the dioxide form. It still offers
protection, but reapplication is required. As the cosmetic oils are
absorbed, the silicone oil (in a layered suspension) attaches to the
skin's surface. The silicone forms a microfilm layer and the molecules
flatten, to form a thin film. When there is no such contact, the
silicone remains in its original crystalline shape. This property
continually allows the skin to breathe. After 4 or more hours, the
dimethicone oil, still in its oxide form, (as a result of the
antioxidant action), begins to recombine with oxygen in the air, it
reverts to micro-granules of silicone dioxide (or sand).
15. Who invented HandShield?
Dr. I. Sandford Schwartz "Dr. Sandy" has been involved in nutritional
research, therapeutics and alternative healing for nearly the past 3
decades. He was proud to be selected and served as Dietetic Consultant
to the U.S. Army Surgeon General, Washington D.C. from 1973 to 1985.
Along with Robert Atkins, Co-founded the famous Atkins Center in N.Y.
City, lectured at Universities and in Post Doctoral Programs. He is
credited with the design of numerous herbal and nutritional products,
first developed to be used in his own private practice, where he
treated more than 10,000 patients and then these products went on to be
offered throughout markets, worldwide, through Bio-Botanica in NY. He
has travelled worldwide identifying new and exciting raw materials,
incorporating them into consumer products for the health and beauty
industries. With the support of a strong network of dedicated people,
in every major world market, unique natural products are made available
to the marketplaces of the world. He continues to hold a position as
Vice President of Bio-Botanica, the largest privately held herbal
extract manufacturer, in the world.
